Description
The work refers to the French motto “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité” (eng. Freedom, Equality, Fraternity), which dates back to the French Revolution of 1789. The credo was incorporated into the French Constitution in 1958 and is seen as part of France’s national heritage to this day. With tautological additions (liberté “pour les libres”, égalité “pour lesEgaux”, fraternité “pour les Frères“, eng. freedom “for the free”, equality “for the equals”, fraternity “for the brothers), Bajevic short-circuits the original slogan’s transformational, revolutionary call to arms. For whom do the fundamental humanist values apply in today’s global world community?
