Description
This work brings together several computer voices that state the demands made by the social movements of 2019, while declaring to be a “French voice” – one of the vocal typologies proposed by the machine. This list of reforms (taxes, wages, health, pensions) is part of the history of popular struggles, while anchoring them in the present time. The automatic reading of these remarks, as well as the medium for their dissemination – a mobile phone – underline the importance of the Internet and social networks in today’s revolutions, with their amplifying power (think of the Arab Spring) but also all their ambiguity, with the circulation of unverified information. In the recording, several voices affirm “Je suis une voix française (I am a French voice)”. It is both this mechanical, artificial voice and a reference to the voice of the people through voting.
